Mimics 14 is out now (& available for download)
Mimics 14 enables design on anatomical data
With Mimics 14 we’re paving the way to design on anatomical data. In order to do so, we included our 3-matic software in this release. 3-matic is our digital CAD software, dedicated to design on anatomical data.
We call the combination of these 2 software products the Mimics Innovation Suite, and we are convinced that this powerful solution will push the boundaries in biomedical research!.
Seamless 3-matic integration
In Mimics 14 one mouse-click suffices to send your 3D data instantly to this forward engineering package, enabling you to start designing on the anatomical data right away. You can launch 3-matic from within Mimics, and it ensures that your project opens immediately in 3-matic, allowing you a continuous workflow.
Link to virtual surgery navigation
When you performe a virtual surgery planning in Mimics or you try out your designed implant, it doesn’t stop there anymore. In Mimics 14 you can superimpose the contours and masks of your (repositioned) 3D objects and implants on the DICOM images, and export these DICOMS with these contours for your navigation system. These contours will serve as a great reference point during the actual surgery.
CT/MRI scans that were scanned in different sequences are sometimes hard to align. However, correct alignment can be vital. Now you can use the table position and orientation information available in the DICOM header to achieve correct alignment within a matter of seconds. As a result, your 3D reconstructions will be more precise.
Mimics 14 is equipped with a copy-paste function, allowing you to copy an object from Project 1 and paste it into Project 2.
In addition, you now have more spline options. You can assign your spline a specific thickness, which helps for example to merge loose parts when you want to print a 3D model. You can export them as .txt and .IGES files, so that measurements on the splines can be used in CAD packages for additional designing
